Are you more likely to take part in an event or activity if the proceeds go to help a charity that you’re passionate about? The DFW Family Expo is coming up and the money is to benefit Children’s Medical Center. I love Children’s Medical Center. My first pediatrician was in the foster clinic at Dallas Children’s. Many of my current infant’s specialists are at Plano Children’s. Dallas Children’s surgically removed the quarter from Jessie’s throat. I am more than happy to support any organization that supports Children’s Medical Center. I remember giving money at Sam’s Club when Sam’s was collecting for Children’s. I plan on going to the DFW Expo regardless, but knowing that the money is going to an organization so near and dear to my heart makes me want to go even more.
March 1 is National Pancake Day. In honor of this most auspicious day, IHOP is giving away a free short stack of pancakes. Since IHOP started serving up National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP has raised over $5.35 million to support nearby charities. I’m excited. I love pancakes. I’m still regretting not making it to IHOP a few years ago when it was serving eggnog pancakes during the holiday season. Now I have visions of chocolate chip pancakes with berry syrup dancing in my head. Maybe that’s where the girls and I will go tomorrow after we pick up Jessie from school. Even better than free pancakes is that IHOP is raising money for The Children’s Miracle Network and other charities that are local to its restaurants. IHOP is hoping to raise more than $2 million. I am excited.
I wonder why I haven’t heard about this event before. It’s set up to coincide with Fat Tuesday, although it’s being held a week early this early. Let’s go eat!
