It’s just over a week away, National Step Family day is celebrated in the United States on September 16th. It is a day to honor and celebrate the step family and blended families all over and the step mothers and fathers who become parents to every child in the family. It a day to celebrate, remember and commemorate and reiterate how much your blended or step family means to you.
Not only is it recommended that you celebrate this day, it is important to celebrate your step family or blended family as a whole. With step families and blended families on the rise, it is important for your family to recognize how special it is and how much love there is to go around.
There are dozens of things you can do on National Step Family day to celebrate. You could celebrate the day with a special family activity, maybe a special family outing to celebrate the day, a special meal or dessert could be served – there is nothing wrong with getting a cake that says “Happy Step Family Day” on it just to have an excuse to eat cake. No matter how you celebrate it is important to be reminded all day that it is a day to celebrate your family.
Children love celebrations, birthdays and holidays and National Step Family is a great day for children to recognize their step parent and how their role has played out in their life.
You might be surprised to learn that your community has organized an event to honor this day. Local churches and community centers often plan a special event on National Step Family day and if nobody has organized anything, it isn’t too late for you to step up and encourage them to do so. It is important for step families and blended families to realize they are not alone and to celebrate with others who are in the same shoes as they are. Don’t hesitate to reach out to others in the same boat and celebrate together.
It might still be a busy time for your family with back to school activities consuming your days, but it is never to busy to celebrate your family and remember how important it is.
