Natural ways to treat and prevent UTIs

The pain of a urinary track infection is just awful. I know the pain and it breaks my heart that my little one has to feel that pain. Sadly it happens to many little ones. Sometimes the symptoms are difficult to tell in small ones since a fever may be the only sign. However, in many the classic burning during urination is the main symptom. It can cause a child to not want to use the bathroom which will only make things worse. However, I understand not wanting to use the bathroom during this time. It can be quite painful. So how can you ease the infection or prevent one?

First, make sure you see your doctor if you suspect an infection. Infections are nothing to play around with or leave go for long. A UTI can turn into a kidney infection. Please see your doctor and take any antibiotics prescribed.

Secondly, you can help ease the pain and reoccurrence of this infection. There are natural and simple ways. However, you can give your child Tylenol or Motrin to help ease pain.

Naturally treating the infection or preventing on includes:

*Drink 4 ounces of blueberry or cranberry juice a day. If an infection is already occurring up that to 2-4 glasses a day.

*Add one teaspoon of baking soda to a glass of water to cut the acidity of the urine.

*Pineapples contain a chemical that help alleviate and prevent infection.

*Drink plenty of water to flush out the infection from your body.

If your child is prone to infections it would be wise to monitor her intake of water and to allow her a glass of cranberry or blueberry juice a day. Make sure she has the correct hygiene routine after going to the bathroom to help prevent more infections.
