Natural Allergy Relief

I’m falling apart. That’s the only way I can word it. If I could go back to the perfect age, I’d choose 35. I still felt very healthy, energetic, and knew enough to know better but not enough to worry myself to death.

Flash forward into this soon-to-be 45 year old body and mind. The passing years are racking up and taking their toll. No, it’s not all bad. I’m more successful, happier, and more in love than at any other time in my life. I have the energy to exercise nearly every day, which I didn’t have the gumption to do when my kids were younger. There are so many positive things going on that I really shouldn’t complain, but I wish I could get my body on the same happy level as my life.

Old injuries have turned into arthritis–that’s what I get for skateboarding in my teen years–and other annoyances like allergies and fatigue seem to plague me more often.

Years ago I took courses in herbology and truly feel that the earth has just about everything we need to thrive and survive. As my life changed I left behind those natural ways to pursue other paths. With the change in seasons my allergies have really kicked into high gear. My first thought these days is to grab a Benadryl. They tend to make me feel spacey and don’t help as much as I’d like.

As my brain was zoning out, old information seeped to the surface of my gray matter and I recalled how I would often take butterbur and nettle. These two herbs took care of the sneezing and dripping and all of those other negative things that come with allergies. In fact, WebMD has a whole page devoted to these herbs.

The website states, “In the British Medical Journal, a group of Swiss researchers showed how just one tablet of butterbur four times daily was as effective as a popular antihistamine drug in controlling symptoms of hay fever — without the traditional symptom of drowsiness that sometimes occurs.”

Although I try to eat healthy
and keep my immune system up, this doesn’t do much for allergy symptoms. As soon as I post this blog I’m getting on iHerb.com and ordering a bottle of butterbur and nettles. Relief is just around the corner.
