Once upon a time there was a sitcom called Seinfeld that was all about nothing. That was the premise of the entire show, that it was about nothing that really mattered, yet it covered various aspects of daily life. It was about the trivial, the silly, and it was a very popular show that many people found quite humorous.
One episode had the crazy character Kramer, played by Michael Richards (who recently ruined his career with an ugly outburst) created a book. It was a coffee table book but unlike other such volumes, it was about coffee tables. It even had small fold out legs. It was comical and of course, no one believed it would sell.
Well, apparently, I shouldn’t say there isn’t anyone who thinks so… Alexander Payne and James Zemaitis obviously think it’s a good idea. They have published “The Coffee Table, Coffee Table Book.” It’s a nice, hardcover book filled with great pictures of… yes, coffee tables. The featured coffee tables run the range from plain to eccentric, from metal, wood, and glass, to metallic, and nearly anything else you can imagine.
The book isn’t exactly one you’d curl up with on a lazy afternoon, but it does make an attractive conversation piece when entertaining. The pictures are also interesting, as most people have no idea that there are that many different styles of coffee tables. Actually, most people don’t really care either, but the book is fun to thumb through and discuss.
You can find more information about “The Coffee Table, Coffee Table Book” at Amazon.com. You can also find plenty of other photo/coffee table books from which to choose.
Another option is to pick up some great architectural, decorating, or floral magazines. Any large, glossy magazine or book with great photos in it will work. For a more personal touch, place photo albums on your coffee table and change them out with other albums from time to time.
