Harry’s creator has gone sleuthing. At least that’s what observers of J.K. Rowling are telling news reporters. Neighbors of the woman responsible for penning the beyond popular “Harry Potter” books is said to be working on her next potential best seller—-a detective novel.
Rowling has reportedly been spotted at cafes in Scotland writing a crime fiction book. It’s familiar turf for Rowling—you’ll recall she famously wrote initial drafts of the Potter story in the Scottish city’s cafes. But, back then she was a financially strapped single mom who set up shop in the cafes to save on the heating bill at home.
Now, of course, she’s one of the richest women in the world – worth $1 billion, according to Forbes magazine – and her series about the boy wizard has sold more than 335 million copies worldwide.
According to the British press, there’s been no official confirmation that Rowling is in fact working on the new book.
Another star getting ready to embark on a new adventure is singer Garth Brooks. County music’s one-time king is bidding farewell to his self imposed sabbatical from singing to compete with younger kids on the country music block by unveiling a new single and a new greatest hits collection.
And he’s not afraid to admit he’s a bit apprehensive about the move.
“I’m scared to death – I’m rusty and I’ve seen these young guys,” Brooks recently told reporters. “But I’m a competitor and when it’s game day you start competing.”
In 2000, the 45-year-old singer, who made history for being the fastest-selling solo artist in history, announced he was trading in his microphone and crazy touring schedule to spend more time being a dad to his three daughters Taylor, 15, August, 13, and Allie, 11 (with ex-wife, Sandy). Back then he told his adoring fans that he wouldn’t be returning to the stage until his kids were out of school. Technically, Brooks is sticking to that promise. The country star may have returned to the recording studio, but he says he has no plans to tour.
Rather, he says he will complete the promo work for the new material then go back to “sitting around” with his daughters and his wife, fellow country music star Trisha Yearwood (whom he wed in 2005).
