Wasn’t it Madonna who said the key to remaining in the spotlight is to constantly reinvent yourself? Seems as though some of her fellow stars are taking the Material Girl’s advice.
JENNIFER ANISTON
The 38-year-old former “Friends” actress is now the face of something purer than all that glitters in Tinseltown. Aniston has invested in bottled-water. It’s true; the star is now the face behind “smartwater” and will appear in posters and print ads promoting the beverage. But that’s not all; according to company executives, Aniston “co-created a limited-edition smartwater label,” which will be available in stores across the country next month.
“We were thrilled that Jennifer discovered smartwater and realized what a difference it makes to her healthy lifestyle,” said execs. “To us, Jennifer truly embodies what smartwater is all about as she combines substance and style like nobody else.”
No word on how much Aniston will be getting for dipping into the new water deal.
VICTORIA BECKHAM
So much for the parade through Beverly Hills… NBC has reportedly pulled the plug on the six-part TV series starring former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. According to network executives, the reality show has been cancelled since Victoria decided to put her soccer star husband ahead of her own shot at TV stardom.
Britain’s Daily Mirror reported that the show’s shooting schedule was thrown into disarray after Victoria’s husband David Beckham was recalled to play for the English national soccer team. The series would have documented the Beckham’s impending move to Los Angeles—the place the family will be calling home as a result of David signing a multi-millionaire dollar deal to play with the Galaxy team.
ROSIE O’DONNELL
In her first public appearance since departing “The View” in true drama queen fashion, Rosie O’Donnell took center stage at a book expo Sunday. While there the outspoken celebrity confided that fans can expect to read more about the recent “View” fallout in her new book, “Celebrity Detox,” coming this fall.
Yes, the comedian-turned-actress-turned-advocate is now adding author to her growing resume. O’Donnell told book expo guests that her long-delayed memoir on fame will not be “vindictive” or “mean-spirited,” but will offer a candid look at her very public life, including her recent feuds with former “View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and real estate mogul Donald Trump in a “half blog,” half “straight” writing effort.
O’Donnell also joked that her next career move would be “auditioning for The Apprentice.”
