Relatively New But Good Photography Books

Here is a list of some photography books that may be of interest:

Since we talked about the legal aspects of photography earlier, here is the Wedding and Portrait Photographers’ Legal Handbook. It consists of 128 pages of how to protect yourself and your business from lawsuits. The book was written by photographer Norman Phillips and attorneyChristoper S. Nudo. Included are sample letters, forms and contracts, with explanations of each document. A good reference book to have.

Lark Books has a variety of photography books, including the Pro Digital Photographer’s Handbook, which is designed to help those photographers that are transitioning to digital from film. 257 pages of frequently asked questions, software tools and basic imaging programs that can fix common problems.

Photoshop CS for Photography: The Art of Pixel Processing is another release from Amphoto Books. Writer Tom Ang provides step-by-step instructions for creating and improving your pictures with pixel processing, using Photoshop CS or similar software. Intended to replace the current Photoshop for Photography.

For those nature and landscape photographers, there is Digital Landscape Photography Step by Step, from Amherst Media, by author Michelle Perkins. She offers tips on refining color and exposure and adding creative image enhancements.

Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits features 50 women, ranging in age from 40 through 70, holding swords. Written by Nancy Alspaugh and Marilyn Kentz, it has black and white images of various female celebrities, with stories about their different approaches to aging.

Amherst Media also published a book on Professional Techniques for Black & White Digital Photography. It is written by Patrick Rice, and features 180 black and white and color photos, lighting tips, digital enhancement strategies and presentation and marketing tips.

Lastly, Westcliffe Publishers published Jack Dykinga’s Arizona. This 144 page book is devoted entirely to the state of Arizona and its natural beauty and wildlife.
