Kubota Image Tools has created a cool product, called Sloppy Borders, which is a series of different borders that can be applied to your photos digitally, no matter what size the photo is. The cost is $125.00 for over 100 borders, and is geared to users of Photoshop CS. If you’d like to view some samples, you can do that.
Memorex has come out with a new USB flash drive that has a built-in LCD. The LCD shows how much memory is left on the drive, and the drive can be named, so as not to confuse it with another one. TravelDrive ID is available in 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB sizes. For more info, or to order visit Memorex.
Speaking of using a tripod, Gitzo added to its line of carbon fiber tripods with the Mountaineer GT2540L 2 Series 6X Long Tripod. The tripod allows photographers to hold equipment at eye level without extending the center column.
Epson America, Inc. came out with the new Epson Perfection V700, a 6500 dpi scanner with a dual lens system. It also offers high resolution scanning for transparencies and reflective scanning, at 4800 dpi.
Apple released the new Aperture 1.1, a post-production tool for photographers that runs on both Intel and Power PC-based Macs. The updated software features improved RAW image rendering and a new set of advanced RAW adjustment controls.
For high end digial SLRs, there is a new super high-speed flash memory card, made by ATP. It is water and temperature resistant, and dust proof. The 150X ProMax CF weighs only ten grams and has a read/write speed of 22.5 MB/s and 18MB/s, respectively. Wow!
A new Photoshop plug-in, Exposure, from Alien Skin Software, attempts to re-create film emulsions, in both color and black and white. It can be applied in one step and saved as a layer, and adjusts things like sharpness, color saturation and tone curves.
