New Travel Blogger Introduction

I will be joining Michele here on the Travel blog, so I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself. I am a freelance writer and stay-at-home mom just outside of Houston, Texas. I homeschool my girls, so my days are filled with math problems, teaching reading, and exploring nature. We also enjoy cooking together and finding new craft projects. When I have spare time, I enjoy writing about kids and the family.

Growing up, I dreamed of traveling. I wanted to see the world. In fact, I briefly considered joining the military so I could travel. Then, I remembered that I’m a wimp and went back home.

Soon, cupid struck and I was married. My beloved and I often waxed poetic about all of the places we would see together– Paris, Rome, London, and all the other romantic hotspots around the globe. We only made it as far as the River Nile (he’s Egyptian) before we became parents to three girls, born back-to-back-to-back.

We still have the itch to travel, but it’s pretty expensive for a large family. So, our travels are pretty much limited to places we can see by mini-van. Funny thing about mini-vans: although they look like little land barges, they don’t float all that well!

Since we are homeschoolers, we’re free to take lots of day trips. We can also travel in the off-season, when most people are stuck at work or school. I plan to write about the many places in America you can see by car. I’ll explore the cultural spots, as well as historical landmarks. Most cities in America have at least two distinct personalities, and I’ll try to reveal them both. I’ll discuss romantic spots, as well as offer practical tips for families.

I’ll also join Michele in discussing our country’s diverse national parks. No matter where you live, chances are you have at least one within driving distance. Like Michele, I’ll be discussing some seasonal offerings, such as fairs, festivals, and carnivals. And yes, I intend to blog on my one international excursion.

If you have any destinations– domestic or foreign– that you’d like to learn more about, let us know. Michele and I are open to suggestions. I’m happy to be here at the Travel blog. Now, come on… let’s go see the country!
