New Trends in Digital Photography

Are you looking to purchase a new digital camera in time for your Fourth of July BBQ? Or perhaps you want a new camera to shoot some frameworthy shots at your family reunion this summer. Whatever your reason now is a great time to snap up the latest and greatest digital cameras and accessories for a decent price. Most stores are trying to get their current stock off the shelves so they can make room for new models to be unveiled in time for the holiday season.

The following digital cameras have been given the thumbs up by Consumer Reports:

Less than $300

Consumer Reports gives the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T70 high marks for its high tech feature that won’t take a picture of your subject until he or she smiles. The subcompact point-and-shoot camera is very small, which makes it perfect for shutterbugs that don’t like lugging around a lot of bulk. Another bonus: the camera’s LCD has a touch-screen, which means you don’t have to click through a menu to switch modes. The camera retails for $280.

Less than $400

The Canon PowerShot A650 IS sells for $350, and according to Consumer Reports, it is worth every penny. The compact point-and-shoot received the highest marks from the magazine for a variety of reasons including its super 6x zoom (a lot of zoom for such a tiny camera). Also, the LCD screen is very clear and very flexible. So flexible that you can hold the camera over your head and still see the screen.

Less than $500

For $499 the Olympus SP-570 UZ is one of the most affordable ultra-zooms on the market. The 20x ultra-zoom / 20 x zoom is the most zoom you can get on a point-and-shoot zoom camera. To get 20x zoom without having to change lens is phenomenal. Basically it means that you can be sitting in the nosebleed section at a ballpark, and you will still be able to capture a frameworthy shot of the pitcher or the dancing mascot behind home plate.
