New Year’s Day: Do You Feel Any Different?

Do you feel any different now that it’s officially 2007? I cannot believe it. Looking back, I remember teasing my oldest daughter that she would be graduating from high school in 2008. I told her how we used to come up with slogans when I was a kid for the year we’d graduate and said hers would be an easy year to give a slogan, “2008 is great!”

That was about 11 years ago, you know, way back in the 1990’s. Now, she will be graduating next year and I just don’t know where the time went! It seems like she was little then I blinked and this young woman took her place. Are any of you other moms or dads having a nostalgic moment? 2007!

As I reflect on the past year, a lot has happened. My oldest daughter became a cheerleader, won a championship, had her picture in the paper. My next oldest was selected as Homecoming Maiden (but could not wear heels with her ankle brace, because suffered a terrible sprained ankle on the trampoline we bought this summer, which finally healed just a few weeks ago). Following her, my daughter that is soon to leave elementary school was president of her class. My youngest started Kindergarten, and I “went back to school” –so to speak- as a part time substitute teacher.

We also had bumps in the road. We suffered the loss of loved ones, one of our dogs passed away, and various other events occurred, which left me thinking that if Murphy’s Law is true then Murphy had come to stay. Through it all, good and bad, we managed as a family. We made it through another year together. I for one am looking forward to a brand new year.

So, what’s on your mind as this New Year begins?

Happy New Year!
