New Year’s Resolution: Still on or broken?

The confetti has been cleaned up. The lights are taken down. The fanfare is over. During this time of high emotion, reflection and motivation to begin a new life many resolutions were made. We meant those resolutions. We had every intention on living them out. Life just sometimes gets in the way. We resolve to not allow ourselves to live one more day without making healthy choices, working out or focusing on losing weight. Yet, after the midnight kiss we forget all about the resolutions because we didn’t factor life in when we made them. Does this describe you?

Perhaps you are still hitting the gym and counting down the days until you can say you hit your goal. This year was your year to show them all you could do it. You could keep a resolution despite having one that statistically does not last past the first week of January. Perhaps you even lost weight and kept loyal to your diet. Does this describe you?

Resolving to lose weight is a difficult task. Losing weight is not easy and it takes plenty of time and commitment. Life enjoys getting in the way and often it appears it is working against you. Losing weight is not something you can think about a few days a week and forget about if you get busy. It is a daily commitment to better eating and forming better habits. Normally by the second week of January instead of losing five pounds most have given up. If they have no given up they have tapered down or still struggle with finding their way. Stop struggling. Stop putting yourself on a time frame. Finally stop worrying about weight. We are talking about your health. Make one healthy choice today and then make another one and then make another one after that. Soon a new habit will form. From that habit your success will grow.
