New Year’s Resolutions – Where Do You Rank?

Are you ready with your New Year’s Resolutions? In just three short days, we bid farewell to 2006 and welcome 2007 into our lives. It seems like just yesterday we were facing the Y2K crisis as we prepared to roll the calendars over from 1999 to 2000 and now, we are just three years shy of turning it to 2010. I remember reading an article in 1999 that described the fact that we were living in an age when science fiction was no longer a fairytale, but becoming fact.

No, we don’t have bases on the moon, but we are planning on going to Mars. 1999 was the year that Buck Rogers took off for space and eventually got lost in time. 2001 was a Space Odyssey and in 2010 – we’re reaching past what we could only imagine a few decades before. But for now, we focus on the year ahead of us.

Planning Ahead

We’ll look at several facets of planning ahead for the New Year over the course of this weekend. I know you’re looking forward to planning your New Year’s celebrations whether you will be attending a party or going out to eat or enjoying a private party at home. If you’re like me, you’ll probably be sound asleep when the New Year rolls in, but that’s just me.

In the meanwhile, the top resolutions planned for the coming year based on numerous polls on various websites show that one in two people want to get fit or lose weight. Other key resolutions that were voted high in key resolution categories include:

  • Travel more
  • Quit smoking
  • Help the environment
  • Choose a more nutritious diet
  • Improve their marriage
  • Fall in Love

The two top resolutions were to get in better shape and to lose weight and not necessarily in that order. Where do you rank with your own New Year’s Resolutions?
