Fashion Week is underway in New York City and while the BIG names in fashion, including Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein and Vera Wang have yet to unveil their collections experts say they are already spotting hot, new trends.
It seems you should stick with your New Year’s exercise regime if you want to look good in the hot new looks for Fall 2007. According to fashion editors, fitter, tailored clothes are among the must-have items this season. As for the popular colors–winter whites, beige-tone neutrals, plum, green and teal are hot for fall.
Look for the trends in fashion magazines and in entertainment magazines. I have a feeling it will only be a matter of time before some of the shows’ celebrity guests don the new look around Tinseltown. Last night Kimora Lee Simmons’ debuted her higher-end KLS collection, which was shown alongside her already popular Baby Phat line—and who was in the front row? Britney Spears and Jamie-Lynn Sigler of “The Sopranos.”
One of the most talked about new looks unveiled so far include: super skinny jeans embellished with button details and gold seams. At the Nicole Miller show the look was inspired by Latin America. Experts say the designer made fashion history by translating an ancient pottery technique known as chulucana into a bold graphic print that was beautifully used on coats, skirts, gowns and even a cashmere scarf.
At Marc Bouwer’s show the theme was: “imitation.” The award-winning designer told reporters that all attempts to convince his audience that his faux furs were real were completely intentional. His most notable piece: a faux striped chinchilla coat, worn belted “Jackie O”-style, and a black faux astrakhan and mink empire-waist coat that was cut close to the body.
Look for more blogs on Fashion Week in the coming days—I’m expecting more celebrities and their stylists to descend on the Big Apple to preview next season’s looks. Most will be there through Friday before moving on to London, Milan and Paris.
