Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson are Pregnant!

Okay, the title of this blog is a bit misleading. The one time reality television couple is pregnant, just not with each other. If you’ve seen a recent photo of Jessica Simpson, you know that she is very, very pregnant. In fact, it looks like she is about to pop any day now. After much speculation, Simpson released the news last Halloween with a tweet that said, “It’s true – I’m going to be a mummy” along with a pic of her dressed as a mummy. Baby daddy is fiancé Eric Johnson.

Lachey and Simpson were married in 2002, but divorced in 2005. Lachey married actress Vanessa Minnillo in 2011 after dating on and off for five years. This past week, Lachey announced that Minnillo is pregnant.

Lachey, who currently is the host of “The Sing-Off,” told Kelly Ripa last Monday “We’re having a baby!” Minnillo, who is the co-host of “Wipeout,” officially took Lachey’s last name late last year.

Lachey told Ripa “I’ve had the chance to do a lot of great things in my career and my life, but this is the one thing that more than any other I’ve looked forward to. The fact that it’s actually here, and we’re going through all these experiences, it’s overwhelming.”

Right now, the couple doesn’t know if they are having a boy or a girl, but he did say they want to find out as soon as possible, with Lachey saying, “I can’t take the knowledge that someone out there knows, but I don’t know.”

Another thing is certain – Lachey plans to be a hands-on dad. He has said he will be in the operating room with Minnillo, but only from the waist up. “I’ve been told – because that’s what happens now, I’m told things – that it’s going to be a waist-up situation, if you know what I mean,” he told Ripa. Lachey said he will be in the operating room holding hands, coaching, and breathing – “all that good stuff.”
