It’s getting close. It’s time to put the final touches on your holiday decorations, so if you could still use a few last minute decorating ideas for Christmas, I’m with you. I was thinking the same thing, so I started trying to come up with some that would be quick and easy but at the same time, would look nice.
Frame it
You have probably heard of wrapping a picture frame with wrapping paper to make it look like a gift, but this is a little different. Instead of wrapping the frame, place a piece of pretty wrapping paper inside the frame. You can use an existing frame, slip paper in over the current picture, and easily remove it after Christmas. It takes about two minutes and costs about two cents for the paper.
Festive Pillows
Some of those holiday pillows can be pretty pricey, and I don’t think I’m going to have time to sew new pillow covers (although that too is an idea I like). Instead, try wrapping pillows in festive fabric. Spread out a square of fabric, turning it so it looks like a diamond. Set the pillow in the middle. Pull the side points in to the center and pin from underneath. Pull the top and bottom points in to the center and knot. Another option is to tie fancy ribbon around a plain pillow as if it were a Christmas gift (top to bottom and side to side). Tie a bow in the center or pin on a piece of costume jewelry such as a sparkly brooch.
Revamp a Lamp
Pick up a plain lampshade and add some festive touches. Or, pin some decorations to an existing lampshade and simply remove them after Christmas. Add tiny satin bows in a random pattern and secure from behind with safety pins.
Bathroom Touches
Stack up some hand towels or washcloths and tie the stack with ribbon so it looks like a Christmas present. Wide, sheer ribbon with wired edges works great and helps the bow keep its shape. Add a couple candles in varied sizes on clear candle plates and add a clear glass bowl with colored glass stones or pretty soaps. Candles and stones should be the same color as your towels.
*One of the simplest ideas is to add a poinsettia to an area that needs some attention.
