Nine Months Old Part II

Along with my daughter’s increased appetite and flourishing palate, she has, of course, correlating growth. Throughout the course of the summer I have watched my daughter’s clothes slowly become shorter and tighter. While my daughter can easily fit into nine month clothes (with extra space in fact), several of her three to six month outfits still fit. However, we are transitioning into fall and even if most of her summer clothes fit, they are not appropriate for cold weather (which we have had a lot of). Still, I have been able to salvage several pairs of pants (leggings really) and several short sleeve onsies and shirts that, when paired with a cardigan and hat, work well for the fall weather! However, my daughter still needs bigger clothes for the fall and winter season. My break from consignment shopping has come to an end at last! I excitedly began weekly perusals of my favorite local children’s consignment shop. With my expectations far too high (I somehow thought that I would find everything I need for my daughter in just one trip), I searched all of the six to twelve months clothes and twelve to eighteen month clothes. Alas, I only found a few items that met with my high standards. This is what necessitated my weekly trips … I am still in search of a couple more clothing items for my daughters fall and winter wardrobe (which in all honesty is fun for me)!

In nine months my daughter has also gained a lot of verbal skills and is a very effective communicator. Most often her communication involves crawling, climbing, and grabbing, but includes lots of sounds lately d’s, m’s, b’s, p’s and lots of vowels. We have continued to sign with her and for her but at nine months she does seem to be signing back … or perhaps I have not been able to identify her attempts.

Finally, at what seems to be a mere nine months, my daughter has taken her first steps! She is not at all confident yet in her walking abilities but her first few steps have been quite exciting!
