No-Cost Tricks to Freshen Your Home

Now that spring is here, wouldn’t it be great to freshen up your home? Unfortunately, changes in decor and even paint can cost money, something that most of us are trying to save these days. Fortunately, I have a few tricks up my sleeves for freshening our comes without paying a dime. Try these tricks for a new look.

Rotate your artwork

Just changing the art can make a big difference. Sometimes we get so used to art that is in our homes that we just don’t even notice it anymore. Sometimes, we just pile on the art, whether it is hanging on the walls or displayed elsewhere. A new piece just gets added without an overall design. Take all of your artwork down and put it in a central location for sorting. Group all of the “spring and summer” artwork and the “Fall and Winter” artwork. Heavy oil paintings would be for winter, while airy pastels say summer. Put the off-season stuff away and then rearrange the current season artwork back in your home. Switch it out in six months.

Change the purpose of a room

Do you have a home office, a living room, a family room or other space whose function could be changed. Why is a particular room designated the guest room? If you have some flexibility, try switching out designated rooms for a fresh approach. You’ll almost feel as though you are in a different home. Don’t worry, you can always switch back if it doesn’t work for you.

Pick some wildflowers

Go outside and pick some wildflowers for your home. It doesn’t matter if they are weeds, just as long as they are pretty. Shake the flowers outside to remove any possible bugs. Separate the flowers by color into small bunches and put them in small vases. Place one particular color in each room. It is a quick and cozy way of bringing the spring indoors.
