No More Baby Gear

Part of me is happy that if I have a third baby, I won’t need to buy much baby gear. And, most likely, my third will be my last. For almost 5 years now I’ve been storing boxes and boxes of clothes from both kids as they outgrow them. My garage has boxes in it full of infant toys, beds, and walkers “just in case” we have another one. Sometimes I feel like half my life is taken up by baby gear, clothes, and other accessories. Getting rid of that baby gear will be a fun occasion although it will definitely mean an end to a precious time in my life.

But, I have a long way to go until I’m ready to let go of the gear. However, when I have my third, I plan on finding out the sex so that I can get rid of half my clothes. If I have another girl, all my boy clothes will be the first to go. And, vice versa. Unfortunately, I will have to buy another infant carrier. The shelf life on those is supposed to be 5 years, and my oldest will be 5 in June. So, buying a new baby stroller and car seat will be our only big purchase that we will have to make.

We are lucky that we had a boy and a girl right off the bat, so now, we can enjoy whatever God blesses us with the third time around. I have to admit though, that although I do want another baby, I will be glad to put some of this gear behind us. Like, the dilapidated baby bjorn, or the worn out walker. All of which have been through at least 2 kids and then some since most of my purchases were from garage sales. But, since I’m not having my third just yet, I guess I still have a while to wait to let go of all of that stuff.
