Who doesn’t love flowers? These can be whipped up in no time and will use up all your little scraps of fabric. The color combinations are endless.
Supplies
Fabric scraps
Felt scraps
Button
Hair clip
To start you will need six circles for each layer(1), I did two layers for this particular flower but you can do more, depending on how big you make the first circles, mine were about three inches and the smaller ones about two inches.
Fold the circles in half, like a little taco (2). Then fold one corner towards the front and one towards that back, you will have what look like little fans. You can sew a stitch to keep each one together (3) or use hot glue. Make sure you don’t use too much glue, you want your flowers to be fluffy.
After all your little fans are together, cut a circle out of felt smaller than the finished size of your flower. Use hot glue to attach the fans like petals(4). After the first row is done (5), glue on the second row(6).
Then take your button, or whatever you’ve decided to use for the center of the flower and glue it on. I used thread to make it look sewn but it’s really glued(7)
Now, on the back attach your little hair clip, use a small piece of felt to cover the part of the hair clip that is glued to the felt, this keeps the whole thing from getting glued down. Turn it over and fluff your petals and you’re done!
Tada! A finished flower in about the time it took to read this. There are so many ways to use this flower, you can clip it on a long chain for a little extra pizzazz. Put a pin back on instead of hair clip and wear it as a pin. Clip in your hair. If you leave the pin back off you can cut another piece of felt and sandwich a headband between the two pieces of felt with hot glue and you have a cute headband for a little girl.
The possibilities are endless. I know some little girls who will be getting these for Christmas!
