I love making something that is quick and inexpensive and this definitely fits both of those categories. I love dollar stores and there are several Dollar Trees by my house and they all seem to have different things. While I was running around looking for fall decorations I found some wonderful ribbon and leaves at the dollar store.
I also found these table runners, can you believe it? As soon as I saw them I knew they were a project in the making so here is the first thing I made with those cute table runners.
Materials
Table runner
Leaves
Heat and Bond
That’s it, all you need to make a cute fall themed table runner.
First, cut your leaves off the stems, you only want the leaves. Then arrange them on the Heat and Bond. There is no special way to arrange them, you just want to get the adhesive on them so put them on there any way they fit. After the leaves are positioned cover them with paper and iron according to the package directions.
Please remember to cover them, if you don’t you will have to scrub your iron because the adhesive will get all over it.
After the leaves are ironed, cut them out. This step is the longest part of the process. Once they are cut out peel the paper backing off each leaf. Then play around with arrangements on your table runner and once you find a design you like, iron the leaves to the fabric.
Tada!! A cute table runner for around $2. Isn’t the dollar store wonderful? I have other plans for the two table runners that are left so keep an eye out for those instructions. Here’s the finished product on the table.
I wish I had remembered all the stuff that is on my table I would have put the leaves out to the side instead of in the middle but I still think it turned out nicely for $2 and a half an hour of work!
I think it would look really cute if you just randomly placed the leaves all down the length, like they fell off the tree onto the table.
Now, I’m off to clean my iron!
