Noah Crafts

Crafting is a great way to get children more involved in the Bible lesson. In this week’s “Bible Stories to Share with Your Children,” I wrote about Noah, the ark he built, and the flood. There are many fun crafts to go along with this lesson. Here are a few simple ideas:

1. Watercolor rainbow. This is a very straightforward idea to help children remember God’s promise to Noah that He would never again destroy the earth through a flood. Using watercolor paints, have the child paint a rainbow while discussing the significance of the rainbow. You could also write a memory verse at the bottom of the picture of the rainbow.

2. Ark animals. Have the child create many different types of animals that were on the ark. This could be done a couple of different ways, which may depend on the age of the child. One way to do this is to find pictures of different animals which the child can color and cut out. This can easily be done using clip-art programs on your computer. A second way to do this is to provide plain construction paper to the child and allow them to draw the animals and then cut them out. After the animals have been cut out place the animals in a paper sack on which a memory verse has been written.

3. Create an ark which can hold animals like those created in the second craft given. This can be done with a variety of different types of materials such as a milk carton, paper plates, or construction paper. Allow the child to decorate the ark. The ark can be made so that it has a door that opens to place the animals inside. The child can even create pictures of Noah and his family to put in the ark.
