Many little children love animals. If your kids do too, they will have fun making these cute and easy projects. Just keep a close eye on little ones so they don’t eat their artwork!
Noah’s Ark
Items Needed:
- 2 paper plates
- Hole punch
- Ribbon or string
- Scissors
- Glue
- Paint
- Animal crackers
Directions:
1. Cut one paper plate in half.
2.Cut a half circle from the top of the other plate, leaving at least a 1″ edge for the roof of the Ark.
3. Punch evenly spaced holes along the bottom, going through both plates. Thread ribbon through holes, tying knots at both ends (or staple the plates together).
4. Paint the Ark.
5. Paint animal crackers to look like “real” animals and glue pairs of them to the Ark.
*While this project is perfect for fun at home, it also makes a cute, simple, Sunday school or Vacation Bible School project for small children. Leftover crackers can be used for snacks.
Zoo Craft Project
Items Needed:
- Poster board
- Straws (thin cocktail straws work best… look for black)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Paint
- Animal crackers
- Rocks, pebbles, twigs
- Construction paper
Directions:
1. Create cages on the poster board by gluing on straws to form a box and then fill in the bars, or design other habitats for animals by gluing on small rocks or twigs or making grass from construction paper.
2. Paint animal crackers to look like “real” animals.
3. Glue one or more animal in each cage or habitat.
*You also can use other types of straws, pipe cleaners, or strips of construction paper for zoo cages.
If you really want to have fun, buy an extra large package of animal crackers and let kids get creative with them. They can find lots of other uses for painted animal crackers, such as creating a carousel or making up an entire circus!
