After the heavy topics of the last few days I thought I’d opt for something lighter today. What about taking a step back into the past? Hold a nostalgia night or several. It could be good for your marriage.
Recently Mick was talking about soothing that happened when we were younger, which is what ca gave me the idea. We decided to hold a series of nostalgia nights.
Starting with our wedding photos, we followed the course of our life together via the photo albums right up to the wedding of our son. Our wedding photos didn’t take all that longs to look at, as we never had enough money for many photos. The talking took longer as we reminisced.
It would be lovely if we had a DVD to watch of the event as many couples today do, but they weren’t around back then. So the only DVD is in our minds. Yes, we’ll come back to the other photos that tell the story of later events like advent of grandchildren and the marriage of our daughter and her husband and moving house but we ran out of time.
Another night we got all our slides and had an evening picture show. One of the interesting things about houses I already mentioned in the home blog. It was interesting to see our young selves up there on the screen. Yes there have been some changes in appearance over the years, but some things don’t change and that is our love. It was great to look back and enjoy the memories together of what have been more than two thirds of our lives.
Why not try it yourself and settle down with your loved one to enjoy a review of your married life and reminisce about the good time you’ve had together. It’s guaranteed to start you talking and laughing and that’s always a good thing for a marriage. It should also make you appreciate all those good times and the life you have had together. It did for us and we’re not finished yet. We’ve got a lot of photos that never actually made it into albums.
