If I have to hear Anna Kournikova whine about how she never wants to get married I might scream.
The tennis star made headlines earlier this week when she told reporters that while she has been dating her sexy boyfriend Enrique Iglesias for three years she has no plans to marry him… despite the fact that he has been proposing to her for the last year.
What gives?
Maybe it’s age. The ravishing blonde former tennis star is almost 27 while her hunky Latin lover is days away from turning 33. (Still young in my book.) Or perhaps Kournikova is afraid that being a product of divorced parents makes her poor marriage material. Whatever the reason you’d think she’d at least take into consideration that Iglesias wants to be married and have kids.
The singer told reporters late last week that he’s been trying to get Kournikova to marry him for years.
“I always try, but she pays me no attention,” Iglesias said Friday.
I wonder how many more times he plans to ask?
Earth to Anna: I know about a million of other girls who would marry your boy toy in a heartbeat. I’m just saying…
Then again this is Hollywood and there are a plethora of Tinseltown babes, who for whatever reason, prefer to just say no to marriage.
Take for example, actress Minnie Driver. Not only does “The Riches” star have a record of breaking off engagements (she ended it with actor Josh Brolin in 2001), but also she is five months pregnant with her first child and is insisting that the Easter Bunny is the father.
Driver made the joke after telling reporters that she is a virgin and will never reveal the true identity of her baby’s father. (By the way, rumor has it Driver’s baby’s dad is her current boyfriend, musician Craig Zolezzi.) As for walking down the aisle, the actress says her fans “shouldn’t hold their breaths.”
Then there are the starlets who have been there done that and won’t go there again.
Case in point: Halle Berry.
The Oscar-winner just gave birth to daughter Nahla Ariela Aubry last month. The baby’s father is Berry’s model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, who she says she feels married to in every way, but has no plans to make it official.
Though, with the type of ex-husbands Berry has can you really blame her for seriously rethinking walking down the aisle again with anyone?
