November Weight Loss Goals

November is just around the corner. The weather is turning crisp. In some areas of the world, it’s already downright cold. This often sends people into “slacking” mode and turns weight loss efforts into mush. To avoid weight loss pitfalls, make goals for yourself and stick with them.

What are your weight loss goals? Have you set any yet? If not, now is a good time to think about it.

With the holidays approaching, perhaps weight loss aspirations are too much for you. Perhaps you should set a goal to maintain your weight or make a goal of only a few pounds.

Here are some ideas to get you thinking about setting your November weight loss goals:

Drink more water – A simple goal that’s not always easy to accomplish. Make a concerted effort to get more water and less soda/coffee/juice this month.

More fruits and veggies – This can be difficult during the cooler months, when casseroles and creamy soups abound. Try to get your five servings a day—your body will thank you.

Less Carbs – I’m not advocating a no-carb or low-carb plan here. But carbohydrates often turn to sugar very quickly, especially when you are eating processed foods. This month, why not try to eat whole grains, or to replace some of your carbohydrates with lean protein or added servings of vegetables.

Move more – Don’t let the cooler months keep you in your pj’s in front of the fire. Use the time to get moving…imagine how good you’ll look in your jeans and sweaters!

Whatever goals you set for yourself during the month of November, keep them realistic. Don’t strive to lose 15 pounds if you know you’ll be exercising your sweet tooth all month. In other words, don’t set yourself up to fail. Set small, realistic goals for yourself. Meet those goals, then move onto another goal. You’ll stand a much better chance of reaching your goals this way.
