October Christmas Deals

christmas lights Think October is too early for Christmas? Maybe not. Just look in any of the stores where Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations are displayed side by side. Perhaps it is the season of Hallowgivingmas? I’m not sure of that, but what I am sure about are some deals and savings that are available now, in October, as the stores try to get a jump on the competition for holiday shopping.

Toys

I’ve been seeing a lot of discounted board games out there. Whether these are left over from the summer, or an early start to the winter holidays, I don’t know. But use those sales and the available coupons now to get some great deals, if board games on are your list this year.

The Lego store is offering double points on most items in the month of October. Points can be cashed in for other Lego products, and the point system is very generous. So, if you have any Lego items on your list, get them this month, and then use the points for more gifts, if something new comes out or for birthday presents during the year. There are also some sales on the website, such as discounts on the Lego Star Wars advent calendar. and other holiday related items.

Don’t forget to pick up some clearance Halloween items (which now appear in the week before Halloween) to use as stocking stuffers. These are items such as bouncy balls, pencils and more.

Food

Buy those discounted candy Halloween pumpkins and use them for Thanksgiving instead. Canned pumpkin, flour, cookie mixes and other items that are packaged for Halloween can still be used for the Christmas season. For example, you can buy a Halloween cupcake mix for 50 to 70 percent off and just leave off the Halloween sprinkles, substituting your own, if you like.
