Octomom Says She was Drugged When Implanted

There for a while, I thought the infamous Octomom’s clock had expired on her 15 minutes of fame. In case you’ve forgotten, Nadya Suleman, aka the Octomom, gave birth to eight children in early 2009. The single mother already had six children before that, all reportedly by the same sperm donor because Suleman claims to have not had sex in 12 years.

About two weeks ago, I saw a morning show interview with Suleman and her brood – at least I think most of them were there, it’s really had to tell. The eight babies were there and I think there were a few of the older kids plus two or three people from the show helping watch them all.

This week, Suleman claims that she was in a drugged state when she signed the consent form to be implanted with 12 embryos. In an interview, Suleman told Dr. Drew Pinksy that Dr. Michael Kamrava, her fertility specialist, “wrote something, he gave it to me to sign.” But, Suleman says she had ingested a “cocktail of drugs” because her uterus was contracting. “I signed it, and I didn’t read it,” she said.

I doubt Dr. Kamrava is without blame in this story. State officials revoked his California state medical license for what they called “gross negligence” for “repeated negligent acts, for an excessive number of embryo transfers.” However, the report also said he felt the implantation of the 12 embryos was motivated “by the patient’s wishes.”

I’d like to think the Octomom is through with her childbearing, but it was revealed that she still has 29 frozen embryos that could be implanted. She has admitted to having emotional baggage and says “With children, I feel so safe in my predictable world. They will never leave me. Kids love you, unconditionally.”

There are probably plenty of decent parents who would attest otherwise, but my real concern in all this is the kids. I don’t think Suleman has a job and even if she did, how could she feed 14 little mouths? And expenses are estimated to be at $18,000 a month – I don’t know many people that could pull that off. Okay, I lied, I don’t know any.

So I guess she had to do something to keep her name in the news in order to be paid for the interviews. I am just afraid at least a few of the 14 kids are going to regret the situation or her keeping them in the spotlight in the future.
