Breaking news (not): Nicole Richie and her live-in lover Joel Madden are reportedly planning their wedding now that she’s pregnant with their second child.
First comes love, then come marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage… obviously this children’s rhyme was penned by someone, who had absolutely no ties to Hollywood, or the 21st century.
Baby first, marriage maybe second, or third (depending on how important career is). Hey, that’s how they roll in Tinseltown… and Toledo… and Tulsa… and just about every other place in the world. But, that’s life, right?
Just ask first time parents Richie and Madden. They welcomed their daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden in January 2008, roughly a year after they began their romance. At the time they dismissed wedding rumors saying that they wanted to concentrate on becoming responsible parents, and maybe they’d get married in the future.
So now Richie is pregnant with baby No.2 and several publications are reporting that this is it. Having a second child was what it took to get these two to the altar.
In Touch Weekly magazine claims the couple wants to make their union official now that Richie’s waistline is expanding again.
A close pal tells the publication, “They are old-fashioned in some ways. Now their second baby is coming, they both want to make it legal.”
Richie and Madden old-fashioned? I wonder what that makes me… prehistoric?
Is it old-fashioned to think that this young couple is far from old-fashioned?
But, enough about me… I’m sure you are dying to know about Richie’s wedding dress.
According to reports, the former reality TV star already found the perfect dress – a vintage Yves Saint Laurent gown – she’s been saving for months. Sources say the dress has been hanging in the back of Richie’s closet for months while she waited for the right occasion to wear it.
News of the wedding even spread to Richie’s pop star father Lionel Richie, who sheepishly admitted that he gave up trying to stay up to date with his daughter’s plans a long time ago.
Richie joked, “I’m the first one to pay for it and the last one to know!”
Someone who may not find the humor in this a few years from now is the couple’s toddler daughter. You have to wonder what Harlow will be thinking once she discovers that it took a sibling to get her parents to walk down the aisle.
