Well, this is hardly news, but former NFL great O.J. Simpson is back in jail. Out on bail for the alleged armed robbery that occurred earlier this year in Las Vegas, the Juice had his bail revoked and now he will have to sit in the jail until the court hearing on Wednesday.
Why was his bail revoked? There are documents that say O.J. violated the agreement of his bail by trying to contact a co-defendant in his case. Specifically, it is said he tried to contact Clarence Stewart and persuade him not to testify or cooperate with the law about this case.
Two people not so sad to hear O.J. is back in jail are Ron Goldman’s dad Fred and his sister Kim. Fred told People magazine “He thinks he’s above the law – that he doesn’t have to honor the rules. His egotistical behavior gets in the way and it gets him in trouble and I love it. He is sending the message that he doesn’t show respect for the law.”
Can’t argue with that!
Buddy Holly died in a plane crash in 1959. You wouldn’t think there was much going on with that story, but you would be wrong. Buddy’s widow, Maria Elena Holly, is trying to stop the famous “Peggy Sue” from selling a book about Buddy. Peggy Sue Gerron has written the book “Whatever Happened to Peggy Sue?” The 283 page book is filled with material taken from Peggy Sue’s diary at the tie she knew the singer. However, Maria Elena says that the book contains information that will harm Buddy’s name, her own reputation, and Holly Properties. Maria Elena went on to say that Buddy never even though of Peggy Sue as a friend. Peggy Sue counters that the two were “very, very good friends.”
The book is scheduled to appear in bookstores later this month, but Maria Elena says she will sue if excerpts she’s seen online appear in the book. Maria Elena owns the rights to her husband’s name, image, and related trademarks and no one from TogiEntertainment Inc. sought consent to use any of that in their book. Buddy’s face is on the book cover and the subtitle is “Memoirs of Buddy Holly’s Peggy Sue.” TogiEntertainment Inc. CEO Mark Faulk says the book will still be published, stating that he thinks Maria Elena fears that the truth about Buddy will come out.
In case you are wondering just who Peggy Sue was to Buddy, she was the crush of Crickets drummer Jerry Allison. The two eventually married in 1958.
