I can’t believe it’s Christmas Eve already. Dinner will be served around 2:00 at our house, and we’re having grilled ham, broccoli, corn, scalloped potatoes from scratch, yeast rolls, and cheesecake for dessert. Of course, there will be cookies and fudge available too.
Do you open a gift, or all your gifts on Christmas Eve or do you save them for Christmas Day? We will each open one small gift later and then we’ll put out cookies and milk for Santa and hang up the stockings.
Daddy will read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas just before our youngest gets tucked into bed, as has become our tradition. Then, the busy stuff will begin. We’ll get all ready for Santa’s deliveries…. and I always seem to still have some last minute wrapping to do.
If you have “some assembly required” items to put together, be sure to get an early start since many times there are challenges. You might want to peek at the directions early in the day, in case any special tools are required that you need to run out and get before all the shop doors are locked tight for Christmas.
Did you write down all the gifts that need batteries and get batteries for them? There may still be time to get some if you forgot.
Are you ready for Christmas morning? Will everyone just open presents at once, or will you take turns opening them up one at a time and taking pictures? We go one at a time and take still photos but we also have the video camera running in the background. Don’t forget to charge those camera batteries!
It’s a good idea to charge your cell phone (or the extra battery if you have one) so you can make all those holiday calls without the phone dying on you and without running up the regular phone bill.
