Hi there! I’m Nicole Humphrey. You probably recognize me from the scrapbooking or frugal living blogs, but I have just accepted the position of blogger on the adoption blog as well. I am very excited about it. I will still be very active over at the scrapbooking and frugal living blogs, I just added another topic near and dear to my heart.
I have really enjoyed being a part of this ever growing community at families.com over the past several months and look forward to forming even more new friendships in the days to come.
As I am sure you are curious about what my experience can bring to the table in the adoption blog, please allow me to explain. My entire background, I guess my entire existence, has been based largely in adoption. I was adopted at birth. I bring to the adoption blog, my expertise in search and reunion for biological parents and adoptees, as well as keeping the bond with adoptive parents. For eleven, almost twelve years I have been helping others search and reunite with biological relatives primarily through adoption. I am not a professional, just someone who knew what it was like to wonder who I really was. One mother gave me roots, the other mother gave me wings.
I’ve known my entire life that I was adopted, but when I became old enough to search (each state is different in its age requirements), I searched and located my biological mother. We now have a thriving relationship and I am blessed with two wonderful mother’s and life is complete.
Here are the basics about me:
I am a 32 (almost 33 now) year old single mother of two wonderful children – a son, Ryan, age 11 and a daughter, Brielle, age 8. We live with my boyfriend, Mike and his three daughters (Vanessa – 11, Melissa-9, and Jessica-7) and are working on blending our families and having a pretty high success rate! I know I am lucky. You can usually find more information about that in the single parenting blog where I occasionally guest blog.
We live in Cottleville, Missouri which is just outside of St. Louis in St. Charles County. We have 2 cats, Drinda and Maple.
I’ve been a freelance writer for several years, but just recently broke into web content and blogging. I enjoy it tremendously. I also really enjoy getting to know my readers on a personal level, so please if you have any questions or comments, I’d really like to hear them.
I am really looking forward to sharing my adoption, my search and reunion, tips and important information regarding adoptees and lots more, with you. Your questions and suggestions are always welcome! Please just ask away!
