Since Mother’s Day is supposed to be Mom’s day off, maybe she’d like to kick back and relax in a nice, warm, bubble bath. You can make a special homemade bubble bath solution for Mom and package it yourself. What a great gift. Mom will really love it when she learns that you made it yourself!
Items Needed:
- 3/4 cup distilled water
- 1-cup baby shampoo (it’s incredibly mild so a good choice)
- 1 teaspoon liquid glycerin
- Plastic bottle with lid
- Ribbon
- Decal, permanent marker
*Optional:
- 4 drops of citrus scented essential oil (mood lifting)
- 2-4 drops of almond oil (not much fragrance, but helps soften skin)
1. Pour each ingredient slowly into a mixing bowl or large measuring cup.
2. Mix ingredients together thoroughly, stirring gently.
3. Carefully pour mixture into plastic bottle.
4. Close the lid tightly, and tie a pretty ribbon around the neck of the bottle.
5. Make a label for the bottle. Write Mom’s Special Bubble Bath, or whatever you’d like to call it. Don’t write on anything else with the permanent marker!
Notes:
It’s best to use liquid glycerin because other kinds have to be melted before being added to the bubble bath solution. This is a bit more difficult, it takes more time, and it requires adult assistance. Liquid glycerin can be found in pharmacies, craft stores, and discount centers, or check AmericaRx.
If you don’t have the oils that are listed, don’t worry. The bubble bath will still work. It will have a clean scent from the shampoo (choose baby shampoo that does not have added conditioner, since that type doesn’t rinse away as easily). You can also add a couple drops of vanilla extract from Mom’s spice cabinet instead of oils.
It’s best to use plastic bottles since glass could break in the bathtub. A clean, squeezable plastic mayonnaise container is perfect, and a 16 oz. bottle from drinking water will work too. You can also find plastic bottles and jars online or in craft stores.
Decals are preferable, but if you don’t have any decals to make a label, you can make one with paper. Be sure to cover it completely with clear tape so it doesn’t get messed up.
