One More Preschool Choice

In my previous blogs I have been discussing preschool choices for your child. Montessori and Christian church preschools are two that I have touched upon. Today I wish to discuss with you one more type of preschool choice, those that take place in a preschool center. These centers are typically found in national chains that are known for childcare. Chains such as the one found here, is what I am referring to.

Is a national preschool chain something you wish to choose for your child? Let’s talk about the basics of this type of setting for a preschool choice. Typically, your child will begin her day with a circle time, this is often done in most preschool environments. Circle time is a chance for children to share stories and discuss things with the teacher. Most often, teachers have a topic of discussion that relates to the entire day’s activities for the child.

Children in this type of preschool will also encounter learning stations that promote hands-on learning and independent and group play. Teachers may also work with students in small groups in order to ask questions about things learned in each learning center. Your child will also participate in music and will play outside to promote exercise and health.

Depending on which chain of preschool you choose from, your child’s teacher most likely will have gone through a training program specific to that school’s curriculum and beliefs. Look closely at this also. If teacher training is important to you, make sure the preschool chain you are considering does provide training and development for teachers. Most of the larger chains should mandate training for their teachers, however some may not. It is important to look into what type of training teachers are provided for that particular preschool.

One drawback to a preschool that is part of a chain is the price. Many of these facilities often are run as childcare centers and offer preschool also. The price of sending your child to a preschool center is often much more than sending your child to a church preschool. Therefore, if it comes down to price and budget when looking for preschools, make sure to get quotes from every preschool you look at. Preschools located in centers like these can be great for beginning learners, but it also comes at a higher price. As with any decision concerning preschool and your child, you must find what fits best for you and your child!
