Purchasing electronics online – Coupon sites

Coupon sites offer online coupons or codes that can provide you with large savings over street prices. Coupons can be used at specific online retailers when checking out. The coupons are usually a string of letters and numbers that you can either type or cut and paste into your shopping basket at your favorite retailer. Some coupon sites are more difficult to navigate than others, but if you spend a few extra minutes searching, you’ll probably find a coupon or two worth using with your next online purchase.

This is part of a series of blogs covering online electronics retailers. Check out other reviews of comparison sites and closeout sites.

Coupon sites

● Techbargains.com – One of the best, if not the best, coupon sites on the Internet is Techbargains.com. This site is well organized and gives you plenty of information without overwhelming you like some coupon sites. From the home page, you’ll see the latest coupons or you can search for specific deals that aren’t listed.

Once you find a coupon, you can link directly to the retailers Web site or cut and paste the coupon code yourself. One advantage that Techbargains.com has over other coupon sites is that it will show you how to combine coupons with any available rebates, so you could end up with an even lower than advertised price. This is a very handy feature if you are really researching and comparing different prices on similar products.

● Ebates – The main difference between Ebates and other online coupon sites, is that Ebates will actually send you rebates for using their site. The money they give you is not very much and comes from the fees usually charged for sites to advertise on Ebates. The selection of coupons here is comparable to other coupon sites, though Amazing-Bargains has more listings.

The site is busy, but readable. You’ll get a feel for how to read the site and find coupons you’re looking for. One big caution I have is that you may unknowingly download a piece of adware from Ebates that is designed to provide you with money-saving events. Make sure you uncheck the option box for downloading the spyware before clicking on a coupon. If you didn’t get a chance to read my blog on spyware products, I suggest you at least skim through it to see why adware is not something you want on your computer. You can find blogs on spyware and antispyware here.

● Amazing-Bargins.com – Amazing-Bargains.com shares its greatest strength and greatest weakness in one thing – it boasts one of the largest listings of online coupons on the Internet. This is great if you have a specific online store in mind and want to see what coupons are offered. A large listing, however, is tough to get through and you may feel like giving up after scrolling through the first page of listings (I sometimes do).

The site layout is not very intuitive and it may become frustrating to find what you are looking for. The search function is best suited for looking up specific stores rather than specific products. I suggest searching for a specific online store and browsing the coupons there rather than searching for a product. Try Techbargains.com for specific product searches.
