Only a Matter of Time

French newspapers are reporting that Angelina Jolie has been admitted to a hospital in the south of France to give birth to her twins.

Officials confirmed the reports, but added that the actress’ admittance to the hospital’s maternity wing had been planned for some time.

Insiders say the world’s most famous pregnant woman will almost certainly remain in the hospital until she gives birth. Hospital administrators say Brad Pitt’s partner was admitted so she could be kept under surveillance, and is not due to give birth immediately.

“Everything is normal,” Jolie’s obstetrician told media reps at a press conference earlier today, “She is very well, and she’s okay. … Brad and Angelina want everyone to know that everything is going well.”

According to the actress’ doctor, the babies will arrive “in the weeks to come.”

The Fondation Lenval, where Jolie will call home for the next few weeks, is a 133-bed hospital located in Nice, France, that specializes in the care of children and teens. Established in 1884, it has a history of treating children whose parents do not have the resources for medical care.

According to local paper Nice-Matin, Jolie is staying in a pre-booked suite of four rooms, each of which are typically priced at $200 per night (a real deal in the world of celebrity millionaires and quite a bargain considering a seaview suite at a hotel located down the street from the hospital goes for more than $2,300 per night ). The paper says at least half of the rooms overlook the Mediterranean and Jolie has reserved nearly all of them.

French papers are also announcing that Brangelina’s soon-to-be-born twins will always be considered honorary citizens of Nice, regardless of whether they opt to obtain local citizenship.

The mayor of Nice just announced that Jolie and Pitt’s newest family members will always be embraced by the residents of the relatively low-key Rivieria city no matter where they choose to live in the future.

According to reports, being born in France is not enough to confer citizenship. Officials say the twins will have the option of obtaining French citizenship when they turn 18 as long as France has been their primary residence for at least 5 years after age 11.
