“Open Your Mouth” Marketing

I’ve spent the last week opening my mouth! Though it seems easy enough, this is one marketing technique that many people have a hard time mastering. However, my sales and interest in Power Pops has increased a ton this week just by talking.

Well, there is a little more to it then just “talking.” You need to share what you do with others. You need a catch phrase!

For example:

Toys: “I spent all week playing! I can’t wait to get my check!”

Power Pops: “I have to let you know about my latest biz! I’m selling lollipops that help you lose weight!”

What ever your business is, you need to find yourself a “catch phrase.” Everywhere you go there are people who want what you have, either the product or the business opportunity.

A good acquaintance was at my mom’s visiting and I went over to say “hi.” As we were talking, I asked her to email me some information on something. I gave her my business card and she read it.

This was her response: “Eat candy, lose weight! Get out of here! Sign me up!!!!” No kidding. Of course we sent her home with a few samples and I will follow up next week.

The local hospital called me to come talk about the importance of play with your children for one of their classes. While talking, I was telling her about all the great toys my kids get, free. She said when we talk she wants more info on the business.

The secret is in how you approach it. You don’t want to be pushy, but instead excited and interested in their needs. Let your talking flow with the conversation. Don’t steer it.

For example “I’m going to my mom’s for the holidays.”
“Me too. My kids really love their Discovery Toys.”

Huh? I’ve seen people do this.

I was in a conversation with someone talking about my business and I mentioned you have to love what you do to be successful. She jumped in “I totally agree! I sell Arbonne and though I’m not crazy about make up, I love the way their facial system makes my skin feel so soft!” Wow! What a great doorway!

So don’t forget to open your mouth! Not only is it your best form of advertisement, it’s FREE!!!!!
