Frugal organization is just as easy to work with as the expensive items you purchase from the store. And how many times have you bought something to get organized only to find out after several uses that well, it is not really very useful. So now you’ve spent money on something that isn’t doing what it’s designed to do.
We have an abundance of plastic storage containers because everything I see them on sale, I’ve bought some up. We use them for everything and I like them better because they are see through and the contents are visible at a glance.
And although I’ve provided tons of ideas for using the items lying around your house for storage, I’m doing to give you another piece of advice. Check out garage sales. Yes, I do realize that means buying something, but some great deals can be had at garage sales.
Inexpensive dressers and book shelves are found at garage sales. Every child’s room needs these items to help them stay organized and you can always paint or decorate the item to match what you already have!
I often see people selling the plastic clear shoe box containers at garage sales. I always want to go up and ask them if I can help them use them to organize. Sometimes I think people don’t realize all the great things that can be stored in them. For toys, they can be used to hold Barbie clothes & accessories, Fast Food Happy Meal toys, smaller game pieces, puzzles, and the larger lidded containers can be used for Legos, blocks, cars and trucks.
If you have an old cardboard file box, they stack nicely on the closet floor for stuffed animals & artwork.
If you’ve purchased an inexpensive bookshelf or already have one use it to contain books, CD’s, Video Games, Magazines, Comic Books, WHATEVER!
For smaller children, use an old dishpan to place books in. They can flip through the books, make their selection and replace the book in the front.
