2. Meryl Streep has garnered 14 Academy Award nominations including one for Best Actress this year for The Devil Wears Prada.
3. The oldest male nominee for Best Actor was Richard Farnsworth at age 79 for the Straight Story in 1999. The oldest female nominee for Best Actress was Jessica Tandy at age 80 for Driving Miss Daisy.
4. The youngest female Best Actress winner was Tatum O’Neal for Paper Moon. She was 10 years old when she won in 1973. The youngest male was Adrien Brody, who was less than a month away from his 30th birthday when he won the award for The Pianist.
5. The only Oscar Shirley ever won was a honorary one in 1935 for her outstanding contribution to screen entertainment.
6. The longest ceremony was the 74th Academy Awards in 2002. It ran four hours and eighteen minutes, surpassing the 1999 broadcast by 10 whole minutes.
7. Bob Hope hosted the Academy Awards eighteen times between 1939 and 1977.
