Our Fourth Prenatal Visit

It is amazing how fast three weeks come and go! It really feels like it has only been a week since we had our third prenatal visit and ultrasound. Alas, three week have passed and it is time for another prenatal appointment.

I was a little worried this visit that I had gained a little more weight than my weekly goal of one pound. Let us just say that cupcakes and English muffins are not a pregnant girls best friend. The reason for my concern was based on a supposed three pound weight gain in just two days! Yikes! I am secretly hoping that my scale is broken, who knows, but we will find out soon enough!

Due to inclement weather we had to reschedule our morning visit for one in the afternoon (our midwife got stuck outside of town in a torrential downpour!). Once we arrived for our appointment, we did the urine test first and it was once again perfect! After chatting a bit about the weather, I “weighed in” … thankfully still on track with a two pound weight gain. Then it was on to checking my blood pressure, measuring my fundal height, and listening to the baby’s heartbeat; all were fantastic! Then we talked about diet (including water intake and vitamin supplements) and exercise; which I am maintaining really well! Lastly, was a physical of sorts. My midwife checked my breathing, lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, thyroid and checked for any inflammation or abnormalities. There were none to be found and she said my skin looked great!

After scheduling our next appointment, I looked at some of her “lending library” books and borrowed a book on gentle birthing choices! It was a good visit! It is always nice to know that both the baby and I are doing and growing well!
