Catching Up with Reality Stars

There were two reality star weddings recently. The Velvet Teddy Bear, Ruben Studdard, married his girlfriend Surata Zuri McCants last Saturday at the Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL. More than 300 guests attended the wedding, all dressed in black and white. Ruben and his 20 groomsmen wore black tuxes while the bride wore a white and ivory Casablanca wedding gown. After the 30-minute ceremony, the newlyweds left for the reception at the Rosewood Hall at SoHo Square in Homewood. McCants and Studdard married when McCants showed up at an Atlanta Wal-Mart CD signing in 2006. McCant volunteered to … Continue reading

Coming Soon to a Small Screen Near You

If you thought Carmela’s homemade pan of ziti was heavy then you haven’t seen the new 30-disc box set with every episode of HBO’s “The Sopranos.” The hefty collector’s item weighs in at nearly 10 pounds… and that’s not the only shocking number associated with the DVD set. When the seven seasons worth of episodes (plus two bonus DVDs) hits shelves on November 11th it will be priced at a whopping $400. The bonus discs include an interview with creator David Chase by Alec Baldwin. Plus, die hard fans of the show (likely the only ones who will be willing … Continue reading

Stars Branching Out… In Places We Don’t Want Them

If I have to hear about one more Hollywood celeb who has decided to “branch out” into the world of fashion I might just hurl all over my pleather JLo coat. I’m kidding about having the coat… not about hurling. So I’m not sure what to do about my lunch given the fact that actress Lindsay Lohan has just announced that she is interested in launching her own perfume line. The 21-year-old free spirit says she wants to follow in the footsteps of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and JLo and come up with a scent that is uniquely her own. … Continue reading

Barbara Tells All

During the entire Star Jones brouhaha and again during the Rosie O’Donnell drama she remained discreetly tight-lipped. I admired that about Barbara Walters, but now it appears her ability to stay mum wasn’t so much a credit to her professionalism, but rather her desire to use the material to fill pages in her new memoir. If you haven’t already heard, legendary TV journalist Barbara Walters has written a new book Audition, which chronicles her illustrious career and includes a few other tawdry tidbits, not the least of which is her admission that she carried on an affair with U.S. Senator … Continue reading

Real Stars Don’t Sign Wallpaper

Not that anyone should mistake Paris Hilton for a real movie star, but the truth is she did reportedly sign her name on expensive wallpaper (yes, folks apparently she does know how to spell her name)… and now she’s paying the price for it. Well, her daddy will likely pick up the tab—–details, details. According to news reports, the socialite has been permanently banned from an upscale Russian hotel after signing her name with a permanent marker on its very, very expensive wallpaper. You would think that being a hotel heiress (never mind that she is also 27 years old) … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: It’s All About the Babies

Well, this explains a lot… Ever since Dennis Quaid’s newborn twins were accidentally given a near-fatal overdose of the blood thinner Heparin by staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles last fall I (along with millions of others) wondered why the actor chose not to sue the hospital for negligence. After all, Quaid and his wife took almost instant legal action against the drug maker for not labeling the blood thinner correctly. So, why let the hospital off the hook? The famous couple finally answered that question a few days ago. Apparently, the Quaid’s are not letting Cedars off … Continue reading

Jamie Lee Bears Almost All and Angela Gets Her Star

You gotta watch those crazy senior citizens – Jamie Lee Curtis, who turns 50 this November 22, has decided to pose topless for a magazine. No, no, not Playboy, but the cover of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). The May/June issue of AARP Magazine will feature Jamie Lee sporting gray hair and wading in water up to her chest. Jamie told the magazine in an interview “I want to be older. I actually think there’s an incredible amount of self-knowledge that comes with getting older. I feel way better now than I did when I was 20. I’m stronger, … Continue reading

“Dancing with the Stars” News

Okay, maybe I’m a bit out of the loop, but when I heard that current “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Marissa Jaret Winokur (she’s the one who can’t stop smiling) was expecting her first baby in a few months I wondered why in the world she was shaking and shimming on the hit TV show. Then I found out that a surrogate mother is carrying the baby. AHA! So, to set the record straight the 35-year-old Broadway star and her husband, “King of the Hill” writer Judah Miller, are indeed expecting their first child and say they were lucky enough … Continue reading

NBC Stars Past and Present Making Headlines

Bill Cosby is at it again. The comedian turned actor turned activist isn’t mincing words when it comes to addressing problems in the black community. This time Cosby is comparing the negative activities going on in the African-American community to “dirty laundry that needs to be washed, not ignored.” The 70-year-old author made the comment at a community college and a mostly black church in suburban Cleveland a few days ago. He also told audience members that it’s time to address problems such as teen pregnancy, crime and school dropout rates among blacks. Cosby has withstood criticism for drawing attention … Continue reading
