Or kittens, iguanas, birds, bunnies, and fish.
Regardless of the type of pet you own, there’s a good bet that he or she is a treasured member of your family. So, why not document this special relationship by creating an entire scrapbook to commemorate your most cherished memories together?
If the project seems a bit overwhelming, consider purchasing a pet-themed scrapbooking kit. Several companies sell collections of paper and embellishments (including stickers, die cuts, stamps and brads) with various pet themes, from farm to jungle animals, and of course, traditional domesticated pups and cats. Some of the cuter offerings I’ve seen on the market are by Karen Foster Designs and Jolee’s Boutique.
While the kit provides the page decorations, it is up to you to decide which special events in your pet’s life you want to record. A good place to start is with your pet’s breed information. For example, if your pet is a pure breed you could include a copy of his paperwork and some information on the history of his particular breed. If your pooch is a mixed breed you might consider listing his most dominant characteristics.
Next, take a trip back in time to record your pets most notable “firsts.” For example, you could create a layout depicting your pup’s first visit to the vet or his first trip to the park. Another idea is to craft a page showing your four-legged friend’s relationship with each member of the family from the youngest to the oldest. The layout could include photos of Rufus cuddling with your toddler daughter or sitting on your mother-in-law’s lap.
Finally, don’t forget to add some journaling to your pet pages; include basic information, such as where you got your pet and how you chose his name. If your pooch was a rescue pup, use the story as the focus of the page and feature a heartwarming collection of photos to help tell the tale of how he joined your family.
