When I started to blog a little over a year ago I never dreamed of making money doing it. I just assumed you blogged for free. Blogging is a pastime, an outlet, a creative space for the writer to share and connect with other bloggers. It never occurred to me that it could also be a job. However, as I have grown into my blogging adventure I see more bloggers monetizing their blog. There are many ways to monetize your blog from selling ad space, becoming an affiliate to writing paid posts. I have been asked about all three but frankly only I have experience with writing paid posts. I hope to gain more knowledge in the other areas as time goes on.
So who pays? How much do they pay? How can I get involved? These are the questions most asked about paid or canned posts. To the first, you can find companies willing to pay you to advertise on your blog through a post. These are opportunities that arise every now and then but you will only hear of it if you are on their radar or belong to a blogging community. Another way is to join a website that specializes in handing out paid post assignments to qualified bloggers. Now, how much you can get paid varies anywhere from “by the click” to $25.00 a post. Getting involved in easy as all you have to do is sign up.
Where do you go? I have been successful with two paid posting websites: Blogsvertise and PayPerPost. I have heard of a few others and signed up but so far I have only been paid and offered consistent work by the two mentioned. All you have to do is register with the site and wait for the offers to come in. That is also the downside. Offers can come almost every day for a week or so and then not at all for month. However, Blogsvertise had a “grab bag” area where you can choose to write up a paid post immediately. The offers in the “grab bag” are ones turned down or not completed by other bloggers. Sometimes you get the easy assignments of just copying and pasting a guest post and then get paid $10.
How do you get paid? That is the most important question since it is the only reason to write a paid post. PayPerPost pays you via check or Paypal. They will deduct $2.00 from your earnings if you cash out through Paypal before you reach $50. Blogsvertise pays monthly into your Paypal account. You do not have the option of cashing out early. You may not get paid exactly on the 30 day mark but so far I have been paid every time….sometimes a bit late and sometimes early. So, if you are interested in getting paid to post on the side these two companies are a great start. Now, you will not make $100 a day or even a week. However, you will make some extra cash for doing what you do anyway.
