Palm Springs – A Hiker’s Paradise

When I think of Palm Springs, I think of desert and paradise rolled into one. The spectacular desert terrain has played host to a multitude of stars, both rising and falling as well as a host of family vacations. But what few people know is that it’s also a paradise for hiker’s and hiking.

You can explore the area on foot or by jeep or for the really adventurous, by hot air balloon. Before exploring the area, you should dress appropriately, wear sturdy and comfortable shoes and take plenty of water. You want to make sure that you and your family maintain their hydration while you soak up the atmosphere that comprises both Palm Springs and Indian Springs.

So what’s so special to go and see there? Palm Canyon. Andreas Canyon and Murray Canyon are the places to go and to see. In Palm canyon, you can see breathtaking flora growing amidst the starkness of a rocky gorge. There are moderately graded and paved footpaths that help you guide your way through the canyon. You can explore, carry your camera to hunt for some great photographs, picnic, meditate and ultimately have a fantastic time outdoors.

Andreas Canyon features more than a 150 species of plants. It’s considered a vital oasis in the midst of the desert. Andreas Creek is a tranquil setting ideal for natural photography and even artists who want to try their hand at drawing. You can explore the scenic foot trails and more. Murray Canyon is an easier hike for the inexperienced as well as featuring a great many equestrian trails. If you’re really lucky while hiking, riding or ballooning through the area, you may even see the wild ponies that populate the area. If you’re not familiar with it, you should take a map or a guide. There are a lot of endangered species present in Murray Canyon.

The entire area is a paradise and it can be a challenge, but if you’re looking for a place for a great hike, to get back to nature or just to spend some quality vacation time with your family that doesn’t involve a theme park – this is a great place to get out and see.
