Yesterday, it was announced that Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock (real name Bob Ritchie) would marry July 29th. This came as a bit of a shock to me. They were hot and heavy when they started dating in 2001 and even appeared headed for the alter, but broke off their relationship in 2003.
In a statement on her web page, Pamela said she was in love, happy, and finally getting remarried. The two will exchange vows of marriage on a yacht near St. Tropez according to US Weekly magazine. This will be the second marriage for Anderson (although she was briefly engaged to Swedish model Marcus Schenkenberg, they never married) and Rock’s first marriage. Kid Rock has a son, Bob Jr., 13, from a previous relationship.
Not that anyone should be surprised at Pamela Anderson having impetuous wedding. The former Baywatch beauty married Tommy Lee on a beach in Cancun, Mexico after only known him for three days. Rather than exchange traditional wedding rings, the couple had tattoos done on their ring fingers. During their tumultuous relationship, the couple had 2 children, Brandon, now 10 and Dylan, now 8, before finally divorcing in 1998. After Pamela was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, she reunited with Lee a couple of times, but now they are more like close friends than anything else.
Kid Rock made a name for himself with his 1998 release Devil Without A Cause, a combination of rap, country, and hard rock music. The couple met backstage at VH1’s salute to Aretha Franklin in April of 2001. Within a year, the couple was engaged. Kid Rock proposed in Las Vegas, although the exact circumstances of the proposal vary. Some say they were alone outside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino while others say he drove her out into the desert and had his friend Uncle Kracker dress up as Elvis.
Hopefully this time, the couple will marry and be happy. Pamela has always seemed concerned about the upbringing and care of her children and has said her boys love both their father and soon-to-be stepfather and are old enough to understand what is going on.
What do you think about this upcoming marriage? Will it last?
