Paper plates are inexpensive and make fun crafts. The materials can mostly be found in your craft box at home. Kids love to use paper plates to make all types of fun crafts so just having a supply will keep your child having fun with arts and crafts. Purchase the most inexpensive paper plates at your store. The uncoated ones work the best but if you have coated at home don’t worry.
Tambourine: Place a paper plate on the table. Add dried beans or rice to the plate. Put another plate upside down on top of the plate and staple all around to keep the beans or rice from falling out.
Fish: From the edge of the plate cut out a triangle. Then attach it to the opposite side of the plate. You will attach the pointed side to the plate. The cut out will serve as the fish’s mouth and the triangle will serve as the tail. Add on a google eye and use construction paper to decorate it and make scales. This is a great project to do if you are studying The Rainbow Fish, ocean creatures or the letter F.
Sun: Paint or color the plate yellow. Add on google eyes, a nose and mouth made from construction paper to the center for the sun’s face. Then trace your child’s hand on yellow construction paper. Cut out enough to go all the way around the plate to be sun rays.
Flower: Trace your child’s hand on green construction paper for leaves and any color she chooses for the petals. Then cut out a yellow circle for the center of the flower. Glue on the green leaves and on top of that glue on the petals but be sure to allow green to show around the petals. Then glue the yellow circle to the center of the plate.
