Paperwork and Passwords

There is nothing like getting ready to go on vacation that makes you realize how much needs to be done around the house.

I’m leaving on Saturday to go to Maryland for a week. Hailey and Josh are coming over to housesit and keep the dog. I keep finding things I need to do before they come over.

I’ve spent my time after work cleaning, vacuuming, doing laundry and pulling weeds. I still need to pack.

Based on airline guidelines I’m trying to decide what to take and what I can live without. It will be much easier to pack this time than in the past, I’m going alone.

I just have to follow the airline rules and only take what I can carry since they charge to check bags. It won’t be too bad, my family won’t care if I have to leave my makeup behind.

There are several things that I need to take care of before I leave. Besides making sure the house is clean and the laundry is finished I need to make sure all my personal paperwork is in order, just in case.

I’ve left a list of passwords, account numbers, life insurance policies, stocks and any necessary paperwork Hailey will need if anything happens to me. I put it all in the filing cabinet. In this digital age there are so many additional things, so much of my life is online.

I’ve given Hailey what she needs to access all my pictures and writing and the information to deactivate my face book page. It seems a little morbid but better safe than sorry.

Then there is Clementine. In addition to making sure Hailey has what she needs to take care of her while I’m gone, I also need to make sure she has her health information and her vet’s number.

It seems like there is just as much to do when I’m going away alone as when I was taking Hailey. The difference now is that instead of leaving all the information for my sisters, I’m leaving it for my daughter.

I really need to put all this together in one place so next time I’m not running around trying to figure out the password for the gas company, just in case.
