Recently Heather and Sherry asked readers if they would like to see an advice column in the Marriage blog. I am going to borrow their idea and ask the parents at Families.com if they would like to see an advice column in Parenting.
Of course advice is just that, advice. None of us here at Families.com have all of the answers and would freely admit that we are not perfect parents. But we are definitely trying and have learned a lot from reading and personal experience. We are also more than happy to do some research on your topic if needed, to answer your question satisfactorily.
Chances are that if you have a question other parents have the same question. After all we are all dealing with many of the same issues. Since we currently just pick out topics at random or base them on events and experiences in our own lives we probably don’t address all of the things that you have questions about. That’s where the advice column comes into play. You can anonymously ask a question about a parenting topic or request a blog on a specific issue then we will respond.
All of us are have different experiences to bring to the advice column. Both Myra and Kori are single parents. Kori has three teenagers and Myra is an older mom with a five-year-old. I am married and had the first of my three children ages seven, five, and three when I was twenty-three. So between the three of us we cover a broad spectrum of parenting.
To ask a question, just send a private message to Kori, Myra, or me. All names will be kept confidential. In fact you don’t even have to give us your name. You can also post a question in the parenting forum.
Our hope in starting an advice column is that we will be better able to meet the needs of the parents at Families.com. We want to make sure that we are writing about the topics that interest you as well as the things that you are concerned about.
So readers, what you do you think about a parenting advice column?
