Yes, yes, I know it is all very high school, but it seems that Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie will be ending their feud. Surprisingly enough, it will be on live television. Okay, I wrote that part tongue in cheek. But like it or not, they are currently a part of our pop culture.
In case you have been living on Mars lately, Paris and Nicole were BFF (Best Friends Forever) socialites that somehow became popular. I believe it was all the party hopping. Anyhow, some mastermind in Hollywood decided to offer them a television show, “The Simple Life,” and even though Fox canceled it after four long seasons, E! decided it was simply too good to let go and they picked it up last year.
There was just one small problem – by the end of season four, the BFF’s were no longer speaking to each other. Neither will admit to what caused the riff, but everyone who is anyone in Young Hollywood seemed to team up on one side or the other. It must have been a nightmare for the crew to try to film the “best friend” show so it looked like the friends liked each other – or were at least speaking to each other.
Despite the breakup, both girls continue to be popular with the public. With what to me seems to be very little talent between the two of them, it is hard to pick up any magazine and not see one, the other, or both on the cover. Nicole has become famous for her eating disorder and her on-again, off-again romance with DJ AM. Paris has become famous for just being famous and rich and her on-again, off-again relationship with half of Young Hollywood.
Now the pair, apparently needing even MORE publicity, has agreed to end their two-year feud on David Letterman’s “The Late Show.” Paris and Nicole will appear on an episode airing sometime in September and will reportedly kiss and make up live on air.
As if that were not bad enough, “The Simple Life” has been renewed for another year. Is this a sign of the apocalypse?
